Cassina

We Came, We Saw, We Milan’d

Joogii made the international design pilgrimage to Milan, Italy last week for the annual Salone del Mobile and general non-stop showcase of talent around the city. It was all we could have hoped for and more - from Nendo’s 50 Manga Chairs exhibit and Missoni’s neon and knit installation to Cassina’s concrete cinder block Salone booth and Baccarat’s Luminiers Out of the Box collaboration with our favorites like Arik Levy…it was a multitude of sights to take in. We successfully scratched the surface and have rounded up photos of some of our favorites.

While experiencing the creations from the best names in design was illuminating, one of our most inspiring takeaways was to see how many designers are experimenting with texture, color and material without the purpose to perfect furniture or lighting design, but to create new dialogue. From the papier-mâché like fabrication of the 601 furniture exhibit and the new take on bent wood from Noon Furniture at Salone Satellite or the rubberized vinyl texture of the Vogue Living installation in the Brera District, we walked away invigorated and motivated to push more boundaries when it comes to rethinking what design can be. Bravo Milano!
